WM2012 Conference Proceedings

On behalf of WM Symposia, it gives us great pleasure to provide you with the WM2012 Conference Proceedings. The annual Radioactive Waste Management (WM) Conference, presented by WM Symposia (WMS), is widely regarded as the premier international conference for the management of radioactive materials and related topics. WMS is a non-profit organization dedicated to education and opportunity in waste management with all proceeds going to further our opportunities and educational objectives. It was founded to provide a forum for discussing and seeking cost-effective and environmentally responsible solutions to the safe management and disposition of radioactive waste and radioactive materials.

WM2012, the 38th annual conference, attracted over 2,200 registrants from 27 countries around the world and provided significant opportunities for networking, professional growth and education - as well as business opportunities. This conference was attended by decision makers, project managers and technical and procurement specialists representing the government and private organizations undertaking the global tasks of radioactive materials management, decommissioning and site remediation. There were 105 technical sessions including the Thursday US Administration’s Blue Ribbon Commission on America’s Nuclear Future workshop at the conference.

The technical program of this conference could not have taken place without the help of the Program Advisory Committee (PAC) volunteers. These volunteers work hard to pull together an educational conference and high quality technical program for you to enjoy.

We have included many aspects of the WM2012 Conference with the proceedings, such as the Final Program, the opening Plenary Speakers' presentations, the Panel Session presentations and summary reports, the Insight newsletters, and lists of our attendees, sponsors and exhibitors as well as short descriptions of their services.

For the Technical Program, we have included the final papers that were accepted and presented. The papers may be searched by Author, Session, Abstract Number or Keywords. We hope that you will join us again next year for the WM2013 Conference planned for February 24 - February 28, 2013 in Phoenix at the Phoenix Convention Center. If you are interested in participating in the technical program in 2013 - the Call for Abstracts is also included.

Registration will open November 1, 2012 at www.wmsym.org.

Sincerely,

Jim Gallagher
