1. About system requirements and the Browser
Your computer must be able to run a Java enabled browser and the browser must be properly installed. Java must be enabled. Any later versions (version 4 and up) of MS Internet Explorer and Netscape Navigator/Communicator will work.

2. Insert the CD-ROM. It will start automatically.
- Windows: The applets "NR Server" and "Windows Server" will appear. The search engine will ask for permission to install temporary files in a temporary directory on your hard drive. Please accept by pressing "OK". The files can be removed at anytime after the session, or if you choose, keep them there as long as you plan to use the CD for quicker start up. The first time will take a minute or two, so please be patient. If the CD does not start, open Windows Explorer: Start/Program/Windows Explorer. Click on the CD symbol. Double click on the file SearchDisc.bat.
- MAC: A window will open showing two icons. Click on the icon "Search. Start ASTAware Search Disc".

3. Please make sure that your browser will bypass any proxy server.
Netscape: go to Edit/Preferences/Advanced/Proxies. Click on "Direct connection to the Internet".
Internet Explorer: go to View/Internet Options/Connection. Disable "Access the Internet using a proxy server". Please be aware that different versions of the same brand browser have different menus.

4. For searching:
Click in the white text field and type your search criteria. Click on "Search" or hit "Enter". For help on searching, see the Help on the ASTAware search page.

5. Acrobat Reader
The CD contains executable files for Acrobat Reader for different MAC and Windows platforms. (You are free to install and distribute as many copies of the Acrobat Reader as you like.  See license agreement.)    When you click the link, your browser will open a dialog with two alternatives:
- "Run this program from it's current location" will install Acrobat reader from the CD.
- "Save this program to disk" will ask you to save the installation file on a writeable drive such as your hard disk. If you download it to your hard drive, you must double click on it there in order to start the installation process.

This CD has a new search engine from Innotech which is featured on CD’s distributed by Sun Microsystems, IBM and others’.
